In this paper, researchers from Noakhali Science and Technology University in Bangladesh summarized the characteristics of essential oils derived from different Etlingera species, with particular focus on their chemical composition and antimicrobial activities. This review was published in the Journal of Medicinal Plants Research.
The researchers believe that extensive studies on the biological activities of Etlingera essential oils may lead to the identification of new compounds which can be used as antimicrobial agents in modern medicine, cosmetics and the pharmaceutical industry.
